The Memorial Sloan Kettering InFusion Center provides chemotherapy and acupuncture treatments to MSK patients in a comfortable setting in downtown Brooklyn, NY. The InFusion Center has a rotating art program that is curated to meet the needs of patients by providing an inspiring visual journey that exceeds the expectations of most medical settings. This solo exhibition was organized by former MSK curator Sarah Campbell.

Medical Concerns and Escapism

Installing artwork in a hospital setting is vastly different from any other. Sensitivities to titles and imagery are considered, as well as viewers walking through the space. For example, Double Twist was wall and ceiling-bound rather than suspended in the center of the room as to avoid wires catching onto tall IV bag stands traveling with patients as they would peruse the exhibition. In addition, heavy concepts or overtly joyful content are traded for imagery that offers an escape from reality.
